Ahoy, fellow sailors! The Olympia Yacht Club (OYC) welcomes boats, especially pirate-decorated boats for its Pirates of Budd Bay annual opening day parade Saturday, May 11. Opening Day marks the start of the boating season and is a long-held tradition throughout Puget Sound.
The parade, beginning at 12:30 p.m. in the Percival Landing area, is among several activities planned at the club’s facilities at 201 Simmons St. NW in downtown Olympia. Interested boaters can pick up parade information packets at the club’s TGIF event Friday evening.
Landlubbers can view the parade starting at 12:30 Saturday from the Percival Landing boardwalk or Port Plaza Park, and while there visit the Olympia Wooden Boat Fair. See Olywoodenboat.org for more information.
Interested boaters can register for the parade by emailing Gary Ashcraft at vc@theolympiayachtclub.com.
