Press Release

Capital Village water main replacement project begins

Posted

On Monday, Aug. 24, the city's contractor, Black Hills Excavating, will start work on a project that replaces a failing water main at the Capital Village Shopping Center.

As part of the construction, the contractor will connect to the water main under Harrison Avenue, approximately 400 feet east from the intersection of Cooper Point Road. The connection work on Harrison will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 7 am and is expected to finish by 5 pm. Construction activities will then move south across Harrison Avenue into the Capital Village Shopping Center and continue until late October.

Businesses will remain open. Car and pedestrian customer access will be maintained.

Expect minor traffic delays. Flaggers will be on site to direct vehicle, bike and pedestrian traffic around the construction activities.

City staff and the contractor will work together to provide a safe and strictly enforced COVID-19 work environment.
