The City of Olympia invites residents to participate in a public hearing to discuss the feasibility report about a potential regional aquatics facility on Thu., Oct. 28, from 5 to 6 p.m.
The meeting will be held on Zoom and is available at this link.
For the upcoming meeting, the city will provide a conceptual vision of the proposed facility. The design is the result of two years of collaborative effort coming from experts including aquatics design firm Barker Rinker Seacat, and community input ranging from public surveys to multiple meetings with local stakeholders. Olympia is partnering with the cities of Lacey and Tumwater for the potential regional project.
In the press release, the city made it clear that the public hearing will help determine whether building a regional aquatics center is feasible. The discussion will also cover the amenities that would be included in the facility.
Once the study is finalized, the city’s Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee will provide a recommendation to the Olympia City Council on whether the proposal should move forward. The city council will then determine some of the project details including the site location, funding strategy, and project partners.
