Cotton pull gets alleged meth cooker pulled over

An intoxicated man was stopped by a Thurston deputy in Bucoda after he nearly caused a collision with an on-coming driver on Tue., June 15, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

After being pulled over, Justin Cook, 30, admitted to the officer that he had just taken a “cotton pull” only a short time prior.

A “cotton pull” is a street term describing a process in which a user takes an already used spoon  to harvest any residue on it. They will use an old cotton swab to strain the narcotic before using it intravenously.

According to the police report, Cook also admitted to having a “small amount of meth” in his truck along with his paraphernalia and admitted that he is more of a “social user” of methamphetamine.

The Sheriff’s Deputy located a clear plastic jar in the truck’s center console containing methamphetamine and several hypodermic needles.

Cook was originally pulled over for nearly causing a traffic collision, where the on-coming driver had to slam on their brakes hard and swerve to avoid impact. This caught the Deputy’s attention nearby which began the vehicle pull-over.

Cook’s blood was drawn by Capital Medical Center and he was booked into the Thurston County Jail for driving under the influence.
