County health office pays tribute to vaccination drive volunteers

Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (TCPHSS) recognized volunteers for the county’s vaccination drive in a ceremony last Monday, June 7.

Partnering with United Way of Thurston County (UWTC), the volunteers were given the President’s Volunteer Service Award for clocking in 100 to more than 470 hours of volunteer service last year in various vaccination centers all over the county.

The awardees are:

  • Kim Yee volunteered 473 hours
  • Sandra Hallstrom, volunteered 466 hours
  • Tobias Klotz volunteered 422 hours
  • Deborah Barnett volunteered 244 hours
  • Martin Balikov volunteered 204 hours
  • Christine Hall volunteered 195 hours
  • Clade “Terry” Sullivan volunteered 185 hours
  • Laurie O’Brien volunteered 198 hours
  • Brenda Paull volunteered 144 hours
  • Sharon Graham volunteered 145 hours
  • Kelly Laidlaw volunteered 133 hours
  • Deborah Dohrmann volunteered 127 hours
  • Marj Shomshor volunteered 113 hours
  • Kathryn McKay volunteered 106 hours
  • Michael Page volunteered 116 hours
  • Jeanne Koenings volunteered 113 hours
  • Nancy Mills volunteered 101 hours
  • Pamela Meredith volunteered 101 hours

“We are so grateful for our volunteer superheroes!,” remarked UWTC Director of Volunteer Programs Lindsay Fujimoto in a press release.

TCPHSS and UWTC also hosted a second event at the Thurston County Fairgrounds to honor other vaccination drive volunteers.

According to CovidActNow.org, 226,235 people (77.9%) have received at least one dose, 203,465 (70.0%) have received at least two doses or a single Johnson & Johnson dose, and 108,370 (37.3%) have received a booster shot.
