Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: I am running because I believe that public schools are the very heart of our community and they contribute to well-being of every community member, not only students. Our school board is facing many challenges. Among them is a safe return to full-time, in-person school. The needs of each student will be larger than ever before, and it will take careful oversite to make sure that OSD's well thought out recovery plan is fully implemented and working for EVERY student. Equity is key. I am known by my coworkers as a problem solver and collaborator. As a school board director, I will use these skills to help kids, parents, teachers, administrators, and members of our community to work together to give every kid the education they deserve and to provide the best work environment for every worker in the district. I currently have three areas of focus. I'd like to increase our Career & Technical training to include trades like electricians, plumbers and carpenters. I also commit to spending one day week volunteering in my neighborhood schools so that I can build relationships with the kids, teachers, paras, staff, and parents I represent. I will also work to find ways to improve the transparency and communication between board members and other members of the community; because I know that the success of any organization depends on people listening to each other and working together to find common solutions. Serving as an elected official is not about me. It's about you and your kids and our shared values and goals. I commit to doing my best work for all of you, because we are all fortunate to be a part of this great community. I would appreciate your vote by November 2.
