The House Floor debated Substitute House Bill 1901, which would enhance and improve civil protection orders.

The bill passed the House originally on February 8th, went to the Senate where it passed 30-17 with changes to the bill, where the House had the choice to concur with the Senate amendments.

The House passed the bill 57-40, concurring with the Senate amendments.

Opposition to the bill was over concern of the definition of coercive control that might actually cause less help to the victim. The legislation now goes to the Governor’s office for an opportunity to be signed into law.
