Debbie Sullivan

Political platform statement

Why I am running for this office: Tumwater has a Strong Mayor form of government so experience and leadership is important. I have this leadership experience as well as the confidence of the current Mayors of Tumwater (Pete Kmet is retiring), Olympia, Lacey, and Yelm who have endorsed me. I have served as a Tumwater Councilmember for 8 years and on the Planning Commission for 10 years (7 years as chair), so I have in-depth knowledge of city processes which is vital. I will bring vision and leadership to the City of Tumwater as we all negotiate life and rebuilding programs after COVID. My experience has been instrumental in bringing transformational change such as Zero Fare as the Tumwater representative and Chair of the Intercity Transit Authority. Experienced in protecting the environment and promoting sustainable growth; advocating for diversity, equity, inclusion and justice; recruiting and retaining local business; and improving local infrastructure. Have been a resident of Tumwater since 1996. My professional experience includes owner of a small business, working in private industry and as a state employee. With this experience I know how to bridge the gaps between business and government which is beneficial to both. In addition to my endorsements from the current Mayors, I also have endorsements from many current and former Councilmembers of Tumwater, Lacey and Olympia. Endorsements from other elected officials include Lt. Governor Denny Heck, OSPI Chris Reykdal, and Leg 22 Representatives. Other endorsements include the Tumwater Firefighters and the Retired Public Employees Council. Visit Facebook page Debbie Sullivan for Tumwater Mayor or
