Decomposed body found in downtown Olympia

Smell from railroad tracks alerted passersby

The Olympia Police Department is investigating human remains found in the downtown area Tuesday morning.

According to a city press release, two people contacted police after noticing a suspicious smell along railroad tracks near Plum Street and Union Avenue. 

Police searched the area and found human remains in a severe state of decomposition.

The case is currently under investigation by Olympia detectives and the Thurston County Coroner’s Office.
