The Thurston County Deputy who was stabbed during an incident on Friday has been released from the hospital, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The deputy, 35-year-old Andrea Moore has been with the sheriff’s office for three years. Her recovery process is expected to be a lengthy one, according to the statement.
Moore responded to a complaint of a man making threats in a house in the 16900 block of Holly Street Southeast in Yelm. Within minutes of her responding there, dispatch was alerted that shots had been fired and Moore had been stabbed. The suspect, Ronald Clayton, had been wanted by law enforcement since cutting off an ankle monitor in Spanaway. Clayton is a convicted sex offender who had recently served 24 months for failing to register as an offender.
He was transported to a hospital in Seattle for treatment.
“We would like to thank our community for the outpouring of support that they have provided for Deputy Moore and our agency as a whole,” reads the statement in part.
The Region Three Critical Incident Investigation Team, headed by the Mason County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating the shooting.
