Kids can kick off their summer by taking part in the fun at Camp Capital every Saturday in June and July at Capital Mall in Olympia.
Sponsored by Timberland Regional Library (TRL) in partnership with Capital Mall, Camp Capital is set up in Macy’s Court every Saturday in June and July from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. Fun activities are planned for kids ages 4 through 10, and there is a check-in table for parents to sign-in their children. Each child must be accompanied by an adult while they are taking part in Camp Capital.
Timberland Regional Library Graphic Design Coordinator helped organize Camp Capital.
"We invite families to watch an amazing performance, make crafts and visit with the library staff,” Cahill said. “Our staff will inspire, engage, and entertain with lots of fun activities.”
During each camp day, a TRL staff person will host activities from 1 to 2 p.m. From 2 to 3 p.m., there will be a performance or show.
Weekly performances and activities include:
Camp Capital is a part of TRL’s Summer Library Program (SLP), which continues through Aug. 31. Other SLP activities include Zoom storytimes, take-and-make activity bags, Library of Things backpacking kits, youth and senior Connect boxes, and grab bags.
After taking part in Camp Capital, families can visit West Olympia Timberland Library in Capital Mall for books and music that have the same theme as that week’s Camp Capital event.
“We are excited to have a library in Capital Mall,” Cahill said,” especially since this is our only location open on Sundays.”
Open Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the West Olympia Timberland Regional Library offers quick computer reservations, printing services, and free WI-FI.
