FC Olympia announced on Wednesday, Jan. 8, that it has hired new technical staff members to steer its USL League Two (USL2) squad for the  2025 soccer season this summer.

A new head coach will steer the ship of the Artesians. Seyti Sidibay has been appointed head coach of the USL2 squad, while Jason Prenovost has joined the club as its USL2 Technical Director.

Both of them had ties with the Sounders organization in two different roles and times in recent history.

Sidibay comes to the Artesians with extensive experience coaching youth and pro-am soccer clubs on the West Coast.

Sidibay recently coached the Pacific Northwest Soccer Club in King County and helped in the Seattle Sounders Futures youth soccer programs.

The 38-year-old coach recently earned his United States Soccer Federation (USSF) "A" Coaching License and holds a business degree. He is completing his education at the United States Sports Academy.

“Seyti is a grinder and a coach (that) players respect,” said FC Olympia USL Sporting Director Chris Wells. I have no doubt he is going to be successful at the USL2 level. The future is bright with the addition of Seyti and his energy.”

Another hire by the Artesians for the men’s USL squad is the appointment of local college coaching legend Jason Prenovost as technical director.

Prenovost is well-known as the winningest coach in the history of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC), with 306 wins for the Tacoma Community College men’s soccer team where he lifted three NWAC titles in his 24-years with the Titans.

Prenovost also coached the U23 Sounders as an assistant coach from 2012-18 and as head coach from 2019-20, using his USSF "B" Coaching License. He is currently the athletic director at Tacoma Community College and holds two bachelor's degrees and a master’s degree.

“I feel very comfortable in saying Jason (Prenovost) is the biggest hire FC Olympia has ever made,” said Sporting Director Chris Wells.

“His resume speaks for itself. He has been successful at every level he has ever coached at. But even more important, the impact he has had in developing both players and coaches as people in our region is unparalleled.”

Sdibay and Prenovost will work together to steer the Artesians in the newly expanded Northwest Division of USL2.

The Washington and Oregon portion of the nationwide USL soccer market has added six new teams between Snohomish to Tacoma since FC Olympia entered USL2 as Oly Town Artesians FC in 2022.

FC Olympia’s most notable USL2 season came in 2023 when the Artesians qualified for the national playoff under then-coach Liviu Bird. That included upsetting the later national champs Ballard FC, as well as knocking out the Mountain Division’s #1-seed Park City Redwolves in the postseason.

Last year was not the most memorable season for the USL2 Artesians, as they failed to go back to the playoffs after finishing second to last in the division, under then-head coach Jason Dunn.

Seyti Sidibay now looks to bring FC Olympia back to success as he starts his regime as coach, alongside Prenovost.

The USL2 appointments for the Artesians complete their 2025 leadership overhaul following the promotion of former Artesian captain Kellyn Green (Farell) as head coach of the USL W team, and the return of Vanessa Crisp as USL W general manager and promotion to the USL W League Northwest Division executive director.

With the new year starting, the USL is expected to release the schedule for the 2025 soccer season in February.

The season usually kicks off in late May.
