Okay, folks, it’s time for some fun! Now that we have been allowed back into society it’s time to remember there is more out there than the grocery store.
For instance…the theater! And I am not talking about the cinema, although there are many good movies out now. No, I am talking about live theater. Luckily for us, Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater and even little Tenino have a great selection to choose from.
First out with a live performance is Tenino Young-at-Heart Theater, which re-launches tomorrow with performances of “A Year with Frog and Toad.” See related story.
Other local theaters are gearing up for September and October re-launches.
Mireya Mayor, A former Miami Dolphins cheerleader, Fulbright scholar, television correspondent, and field biologist who discovered a new species of lemur in Madagascar, Dr. Mireya Mayor energizes audiences everywhere. She offers a behind-the-scenes look at the hardships and dangers of life in the field, along with the moments of discovery that make it all worthwhile.
This event was originally scheduled for May 19, 2020. Tickets purchased for the original date will be honored.

Harlequin performs at The State Theater in the heart of downtown Olympia and opens their season with “Tenderly”, a play based on the life of Rosemary Clooney.
A fresh, personal, and poignant picture of the woman whose unparalleled talent and unbridled personality made her a legend. Beginning with Clooney’s simple Maysville, Kentucky childhood and following her rise to Hollywood stardom, Tenderly weaves her signature songs in and out. We learn both the story of her successes on film, radio, and TV, as well as her struggles in her personal life – with a career fading during the advent of rock-and-roll and her battles with addiction and depression. Featuring “Hey There,” “Sisters,” “Botcha-a-Me,” “Come On-a My House,” and many other favorites.
The State Theater is located at 202 4th Avenue East, Olympia.

Last but not least another little hidden treasure…
