Joint Animal Services (JAS) reminds pet owners to take special measures to keep their animals safe during Halloween.
“Halloween can be spooky fun,” acknowledges JAS in a press release, "but it can also be stressful for pets when masked trick-or-treaters come knocking at the door."
To help your pets, JAS also recommends keeping your pets inside your homes on Halloween, in a quiet area away from the door.
Stashing some treats for your pets can also come in handy, but JAS reminds you that certain foods can be dangerous for animals, such as chocolate, raisins, and some artificial sweeteners, which can be very toxic for dogs, such as xylitol.
“Be mindful of pet dangers when hanging decorations, and check pet costumes for comfort and safety,” it added.
The welfare group also recommends making sure that your pets are wearing their ID tags at all times.
"As a side note, be careful when choosing outside spider webs and outdoor decorations. Birds can fly into the and get caught. Be sure and check them often."
