The Greg Cuoio Park is getting a theme picked out for it – the Lacey Board of Park Commission is seeking community members’ thoughts on further improvements for the park in its Phase 1A improvements.

Parks consultant Juliet Vong said the online survey started on September 28 and will be open until Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Vong explained that Lacey envisions a playground that is "contoured for individualized and inclusive play for all kids and helps to create an identity for the park."

Community members can choose a theme from three options which are a) Trucks, Blocks & Boulders, b) Trees & Nature, and c) Animals & Critters.

Trucks, Blocks & Boulders "allows plenty of room for creativity and creates the feel of a work site in a safe, kids-play environment," the survey described.

The second option, Trees & Nature, "allows building continuity with surrounding natural elements of the park in a fun and educational play environment."

The Animals and Critters theme "allows introducing species who live in the park and bring them into kids' play."

Vong revealed that the latest data from the survey shows that 53% of the respondents favor the second option or the Trees and Nature theme, while 23% and 24% voted for options A and C, respectively.
