Lacey Veterans Services Hub receives 2020 Municipal Excellence Award

Posted

LACEY –– The Lacey Veterans Services Hub recently received an Association of Washington Cities (AWC) 2020 Municipal Excellence Award.

Lacey was one of five Washington cities to receive the award, which recognizes creative approaches in municipal projects and programs that significantly improve the quality of life in communities. The Lacey Veterans Services Hub currently has nearly 70 partners and providers that use a collaborative “one-stop” approach to provide essential services to Veterans.

Veterans can get assistance with VA benefits, housing, employment, nutrition, education, healthcare, mental health, and legal aid — all in one location. In 2019, more than 7,000 client appointments were booked at the facility. All services are provided free-of-charge and no veteran is turned away.

“This recognition means a great deal to the city and the many dedicated volunteers and service providers that make the Lacey Veterans Services Hub the outstanding community success it is,” said Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder. “We, in the South Puget Sound, owe so much to the outstanding veterans and their family members who choose to stay in our region following their military service.”
