Leg 20 house incumbents, both GOP members, face Democrats in November

Senator Braun wins unopposed

A small part of this district is in southern Thurston County. The district includes most of Lewis and rural parts of Cowlitz Counties. In recent years the senator and both representatives have been members of the Republican party.

State Senator

Incumbent John Braun, ran unopposed and received 26,204 votes (94.69%) as of 10:20 pm on Election Night. He is president of Braun Northwest, Inc., in Chehalis, which manufactures emergency vehicles there.

State Representative Position 1

Long-time Rep. Richard DeBolt, first elected to the position in 1995, announced his retirement from the Legislature in February.

The open seat attracted two Republicans, one Democrat and one candidate who did not state a party preference.

Leading vote getters were Republican Peter Abbarno who received 15,334 votes (45.99%), and Democrat Timothy Zahn who received 8,909 votes (26.72%) as of 10:20 on Tuesday night. Abbarno is a partner in a law firm in Centralia. Zahn is a lifelong resident of Toutle, an unincorporated piece of Cowlitz County, and completed a bachelors degree in information technology in June.

State Representative Position 2

Incumbent Republican Ed Orcutt received 24,283 votes (72.45%) and is opposed by Democrat Will Rollet who received 9,128 votes (27.24%). Orcutt owns a forestry consulting business based in Kalama. Rollet is a student at Lower Columbia College in Longview.
