Two deputies from the Thurston County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) were injured after they responded to a report of harassment. on Tuesday, May 13.
Deputies went to the suspect’s residence to speak with him regarding the threats against a public defender.
According to Sheriff Derek Sanders, the suspect became physically aggressive.
During the struggle, one deputy suffered facial injuries and bleeding from the ear after being struck while the suspect, “attempted (and nearly succeeded) to gouge out the eye of a second deputy," said Sanders in a social media post.
The deputies were able to subdue the suspect and placed him in a WRAP restraint system.
The suspect is currently receiving medical attention and will be facing charges, including felony harassment and multiple counts of felony assault.
“Both deputies are being treated and are in good spirit with command staff, deputies, and I at the hospital with them,” Sanders said.
