A man is being held in the Thurston County Jail on $100,000 bail after authorities say he robbed someone at gunpoint and fired a shot inside an Olympia hotel room.

Bruce L. Tolle, 33, is facing a single count of first-degree robbery while armed with a deadly weapon. He was arrested in Olympia on Sunday.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on March 12, police responded to a gunshot and reported robbery at a hotel on Evergreen Park Drive Southwest. The alleged victim told police he met with a man — later allegedly identified as Tolle — and a woman — who goes unnamed in court documents — in a parking lot of the hotel.

The victim said, “talk turned to [the alleged victim] paying to have sexual intercourse with the female.” The trio went to the victim’s hotel room, where the Tolle acted aggressively toward the victim, repeatedly asking him if he was a cop. Tolle allegedly pulled out two handguns and pointed them at the victim’s head. Tolle allegedly struck the victim on the side of the head — although court documents don’t note whether he was struck with one of the guns or with a hand. Police found blood on the floor at the hotel room, and noted the victim was bleeding from the side of his head.

“At some point, one of the handguns went off. [The victim] stated the gun went off near his head and ear,” read court documents.

Tolle then allegedly tied the victim up with a telephone cord, took his wallet and keys and left with the woman.

On Thursday, a source tipped off police that Tolle may have committed a robbery. The source said they heard Tolle provide specific details about a robbery, which lined up with what the victim had reported. Police showed the victim pictures of Tolle, and he confirmed Tolle was the suspect who robbed him, according to court documents.
