The Olympia School District (OSD) proclamedthe week of May 2-6 as Teacher Appreciation Week.

The proclamation, signed at the OSD regular board meeting yesterday, underscored the teachers’ responsibility to provide quality education to all students.

“Our country’s future depends upon providing quality education to all students. We hold our teachers in high regard, understanding the value placed on their skills and abilities, and recognizing the impact they have in our students’ lives,” the proclamation stated.

OSD Superintendent Patrick Murphy said it has been an incredibly difficult time in education in the last couple of years.

He said transitioning back to full-time and in-person learning has been challenging for everyone in education.

“Our teachers have been at the forefront of our efforts to bring our students back and serve our families,” he said.

The Olympia School Board urged all staff, students and citizens of the OSD to join them in observing the Teachers Appreciation Week.
