Learn how to keep an eye out for invasive European green crabs by participating in a new community science project called
Molt Search, hosted by the Puget Sound Estuarium in collaboration with
Washington Sea Grant's Crab Team, WSU Extension, and Nisqually Reach Nature Center.
At this Molt Search training event you'll learn:
- About this invasive crab and what's being done about it.
- How to identify native crab species and European green crabs.
- How to do a Molt Search and submit your findings through MyCoast.
When: Friday, June 20 from 9-11 a.m.
Where: Tolmie State Park
What: Free, hands-on training and practice of Molt Search protocols, crab ID, and green crab basics
Please dress for the weather, wear good walking shoes, and bring a bag or other container to collect molts in.
