Two suspects with active warrants were arrested following a high-speed car chase after reports of an alleged theft in a Nike store on Sunday, May 11.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) released video footage from a patrol car dashcam showing deputies chasing after the vehicle.

TCSO heard the report of stolen Nike merchandise from the Nike store in Centralia. The suspects fled the scene in a red van and traveled northbound on Interstate 5.

Deputies spotted the vehicle in Olympia and attempted a traffic stop. When the driver failed to comply, deputies initiated a pursuit after getting authorization to go after the suspect vehicle.

A tracking device launch was attempted but did not attach, and no air support was available at the time.

The fleeing vehicle took the DuPont exit and crashed into a wall before being pinned in by the pursuing deputy,” the TCSO said.

Authorities later recovered the stolen goods after obtaining a search warrant for the van.

The passenger, who also had an outstanding warrant, was transferred into Centralia Police Department custody and was booked for theft.

The driver, reported to be a convicted felon under supervision, was booked into the Thurston County jail on multiple charges, including attempting to elude a police vehicle, reckless endangerment and possession of stolen property.
