The Thurston County Planning Commission is hosting public hearings to get the public to weigh in on proposed changes to the county's Comprehensive Plan, Thurston 2045.
The comprehensive plan is a 20-year growth plan and policy document that will guide future land use, housing policy and more for unincorporated Thurston County.
The public hearings will be held at 3000 Pacific Ave. SE, Room 110 in Olympia on Wednesday, April 23, from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Open houses will start one hour before each meeting, the county said in announcing the events.
"Thurston 2045, the (county’s) periodic Comprehensive Plan update, will change the plan to meet new changes in state law and reflect new trends in the county. Proposed changes include updates to land use, natural resources, housing, transportation, capital facilities, utilities, environment, historic resources, and informational chapters, maps, and appendices," the county said in its announcement.
"Other changes include the addition of a climate chapter; a land use and zoning amendment to fix the location of Fort Eaton Park; several countywide land use, zoning, UGA boundary corrections; and amendments to the Thurston County Code Titles 18 and 20."
To request disability accommodations, call the Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator at least three days prior to the meeting at 360-786-5440. People with speech or hearing disabilities may contact via Washington Relay: 711 or 800-833-6388.
