The number of people vaccinated in Thurston County continues to steadily climb.

As of today, Thurston County health officials say, 30.44 percent of county residents have received at least one dose of vaccine and 19.4 percent are fully vaccinated. Next week, as per an announcement from Gov. Jay Inslee, all Washington residents older than 16 will be eligible for vaccination. That will kick off April 15.

According to Thurston County Public Health and Social Services (PHSS) Director Schelli Slaughter, there are daily vaccination events on the South Sound Community College Campus. There will also be additional mass vaccination events at the Thurston County Fairgrounds in the future, although specific dates and times are yet to be announced. Check-in with the PHSS website for more details, and to schedule a time to receive a dose.

The steadily growing vaccination events have put PHSS in need of more volunteers. Slaughter said that sometime in the future, they may hold daily vaccination events at both the SPSCC campus and the Fairgrounds — which would require roughly 150 volunteers daily. Anyone interested in volunteering can sign up at the United Way of Thurston County Website at https://www.unitedway-thurston.org/.

Meanwhile, the county continues to see a large weekly allotment of vaccines from the state. This coming week, health officials expect to receive a total of 10,780 to the Thurston County region. Those vaccines go to PHSS and other licensed vaccine providers in the county, like healthcare facilities and pharmacies.
