Felon wanted for selling narcotics arrested

A six-time felon wanted for selling narcotics was arrested near Black Hill High School after trying to flee from law enforcement on April 24, according to Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) news release.

The suspect had bailed out of TCSO jail and failed to appear for his court date, resulting in the issuance of warrants for his arrest.

“In February, the Narcotics Task Force arrested a six-time felon who had a warrant for dealing narcotics. At the time of the arrest, he was also found to be in possession of more than 300 grams of fentanyl pills and methamphetamine,” TCSO stated.

Thurston County Narcotics Task Force members located the suspect inside a vehicle with his girlfriend in the driver’s seat.

“When the Task Force attempted to stop the car, a minor collision occurred before the suspect vehicle fled down Littlerock Road,” TCSO stated.

The vehicle's driver eventually pulled over and surrendered at the Black Hills High School entrance.

The school briefly entered lockdown mode during the arrest as a precautionary measure.

The male suspect and his girlfriend were taken into custody without further incident.

The male suspect was booked for his outstanding TCSO warrants, with bail increasing on old and new charges.

Meanwhile, the female driver faces charges of eluding, possession of narcotics, and hit and run and was released on a promise to appear at her next court date.

"With bail increasing"? Given that he's already taken flight and failed to show up for his hearing on these same charges, bail should not even be an option at this point. How can this disconnect between Thurston County judges and the vast majority of citizens still exist? Excessive leniency is no longer trending, even in Olympia.
