I'd rather not add duplicative bureaucracies. There could not possibly be reductions in bureaucratic costs in setting up a new agency and in any case, why reinvent the wheel. But it looks like the current budgets for fire safety are underfunded in both cities, if we are not sustainable already.
I'd like to get the Fire Benefit fee or some kind of additional funding! in place, but leave the existing city structures in place. With the increased budget, let the cities design their own systems according to their direct needs---especially about hiring more firefighters and buying equipment!! It's clear we need to build capacity.
