Thank you, Shirley, for this very informative article.

I'd like to point out one small error. Your article states that the Olmsted Brothers firm worked on the design of the campus from 1911 through 1931. In fact, the Olmsted firm worked during 2 separate time frames with Wilder and White on a landscape plan. The state first hired Olmsted in 1911, but their initial design concept was rejected by the State in 1914, possibly at the urging of Wilder and White. The state brought back he Olmsted firm in late 1927 to create a new landscape design. This second landscape plan was completed by Olmsted in January 1929, before the start of the Great Depression. That second landscape plan was partially constructed in the following years.

The Great Depression may have been the reason that the state never completed the Wilder and White Group Plan or the Olmsted Landsacape plan, but it doesn't appear to be the reason that Olmsted Brother's landscape work ended when it did.
