I'm saddened that the Native American curriculum hasn't been fully implemented in Washington's schools. I was working at The Evergreen State College at the Northwest Indian Applied Research Institute during 2015 with an intern who was working with the Superintendent of Public Education's Director of Indian Education to develop a curriculum. Time has gone by and schools are still reluctant to incorporate this subject in the classroom, despite the law. I'm so pleased to read that the program at River Ridge has been successful, but wish other school districts were more welcoming to Native studies.
