I never could understand why homeless folks sometimes kept pets? Until one day I was in a dollar store and one came in, just frantic, and asking to borrow a phone. He was terrified because someone had stolen his dog while he was sleeping. I'm a pet person myself, and immediately related to his plight, and felt so bad for him.
