Ms Baker, you have an interesting perspective on news outlets. Although I'm not of your generation I agree with many of your points.

I don't seek news to fill my mind. I find that most "news" is mere mind pollution. I, too, prefer to have information that is relevant to the course of my life.

I abide by the phrase "Mind Your Business" when seeking or giving opinions. I agree with you that most of what passes for news is opinions and demands. That's why I find Mr. Stusser's publications refreshing. Information, not judgements. This helps me avoid the negativism and instead, find information I can put to use.

I also don't want a barrage of information that only makes me feel "good" and content about my life. I want, and seek, opinions different than my own. I want folks around me to voice disagreement when they have a differing perspective. News sites are much the same way. I want to know how others think and feel. I want to know why they have a specific opinion. I may continue to disagree, but the contention is greatly reduced when I understand better their perspective.

Now a few generational generalizations.

I admire the youthful eagerness for life that has been lost by old folks like myself. I find it refreshing when young people, like you, feel confident to express their views. It's wrong for myself and my peers to be dismissive of your opinions and outlooks.

A folly of youth is to not have an interest in the world around. Information is not always going to be good news. Avoiding harsh realities until it crashes into you is naïve. The youth have a greater circle of influence than they realize.

Youth too often don't realize life will take you the direction you step. Those individual steps are determined on your vision and view. The news sites you rely on will help you see where your next step should be. You'll go where you look.
