Few citizens in Thurston County support commercial passenger flights at this airport. It isn't practical to expand the airport runways to allow for 737 size aircraft traffic. There are other, better, sites in the south sound region area to build or expand an airport to take the pressure off SeaTac. One option, and one that has local support and the requisite space, is on the Shelton airport site. The Port of Olympia airport manager, the state of Washington group studying the need, and and the FAA have all come down on the side of other sites and not this one.
