2025 City of Yelm National Night Out takes place on Aug. 5

Yelm residents are invited to take part in the city's National Night Out event at Yelm City Park from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 5. The event is free and open to all ages.

A variety of  activities, including vehicle tours, bounce houses, face painting, crafts, a photo booth, and giveaways, await attendees.

Guests will also have a chance to try and dunk Yelm Police Department officers, including the police chief, in a dunk tank. Children and adults can race against officers in the first-ever “Sprinkle Sprint,” a donut-themed race.

Night Out will conclude with a demonstration from the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit.

The event will include free food and refreshments, such as root beer floats, hot dogs, burgers and Kona shaved ice. Several local businesses are contributing to the event, with food and beverages provided by Tim’s Pharmacy, Yelm Grocery Outlet and Steele Barrel BBQ.

National Night Out is an annual initiative that promotes police-community partnerships and public safety awareness.
