25th Olympic Airshow to showcase aircrafts from World War II, aerobatic demos

Catch the annual Olympic Air Show at the Olympia Regional Airport on June 14-15 for Father’s Day weekend.  

This year is the 25th anniversary of the show. Attendees can expect a showcase of various aircrafts from World War II to recent ones. 

Featured aerobatic demonstrations include the P-51D American Beauty and the only flying example of a Kaman HH-43 Huskie. 

The event will also feature a World War II encampment set with authentic military vehicles and uniformed personnel, a beer garden, food and merchandise vendors, and a variety of activities for youths.

“The weekend event promises to deliver the excitement of aerobatic demonstrations and historic aviation that visitors anticipate. Early hotel reservations are recommended,” an event news release stated. 

Air exhibitions 

The news release stated that featured visiting performers will include the West Coast Ravens Demonstration Team, a 1943 PBY-5A Catalina Princess of the Stars, a Grumman J2F Duck, a KC-135 Strato-tanker fly-by, a B-17F Flying Fortress Ye Olde Pub, and the Smoke 'N Thunder Jet Car.  

PBY Catalina will offer ground tours and B-17F Flying Fortress will offer free rides. 

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources Aviation Division will also perform an aerial fire attack demonstration. 

“This significant performer lineup is enhanced with all the recurring aerobatic favorites, such as Anna Serbinenko Sky Dancing, Ross Granley, Renny Price, and Greg Howard,” the news release states.
