Advanced Drainage Systems to lay off dozens of workers

A leading designer and manufacturer of pipes and water management products is laying off dozens of workers and shutting down its plant in Olympia.

Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. filed a worker adjustment and retraining notification (WARN) with the state Employment Security Department that calls for a total of 54 workers to be laid off beginning on March 29.

The WARN filing, which was received on Jan. 28, refers to the pending layoffs as permanent. The notice also states that the plant will be closed. The plant is located at 6001 Belmore Street SW.

Shares of Advanced Drainage Systems Inc., which trades under the ticker symbol WMS on the New York Stock Exchange, were down $1.85 or 1.53 percent to close at $119.06 on Monday. The company is based in Hilliard, Ohio.
