This holiday commemorates the day the last enslaved people in Texas were notified of their liberation. It has become a day celebrated by Black people across the nation to remember and celebrate the “end of slavery.”
We are going to honor Juneteenth with a celebration of our own. We are going to celebrate freedom with the opening of the new ASHHO Cultural Community Center. You will learn the history of Juneteenth, as well as the history of the city of Tumwater & the location of The Center.
You will hear from our hosts & guests about the opportunities for learning, celebration and connecting that will take place in the future. There will be food available. All ages welcome!
