Auditor’s Office mails ballots to Tumwater voters

Posted

The Thurston County Auditor’s Office announced on Wednesday, April 2, that it has distributed more than 18,000 ballots to Tumwater voters for the April 22 special election.

The office also stated that ballots for military and overseas voters were mailed out on March 21.

The only proposition on the ballot is a measure asking if the voters want to renew a 0.2% sales tax, which is being used to fund road maintenance projects in the city.

Tumwater has been collecting the tax for the last 10 years through a transportation benefit district established by voters in 2014.

When returning the ballots by mail, voters must ensure they are postmarked no later than April 22.

If a voter misses their mailbox’s pickup time on Election Day, the county auditor’s office has provided seven designated ballot drop boxes, which will remain open until 8 p.m. on April 22.

Voters may also visit a voting center at 2915 29th Ave., Tumwater, to cast their ballots. The center also accommodates voter registration and offers other voting services.

People who have not received their ballot by April 9 are advised to contact the Elections Division of the Auditor’s Office at (360) 786-5408 or elections@co.thurston.wa.us.
