Ballots mailed out for Aug. 5 primary election in Thurston County

The Thurston County Auditor's Office announced it has mailed more than 147,000 ballots to registered voters for the Aug. 5 Primary Election.

Voters will determine what candidates move on to the general election in November, in a number of  competitive races throughout the county.

City council seats are up for grabs in Olympia and Yelm, as is a seat on the Port of Olympia Commission.

There are also school board contests in Olympia, Tumwater and Yelm, and three ballot measures to be decided.

There are 27 secure ballot drop boxes available around Thurston County that will remain open until 8 p.m on Tuesday, Aug. 5. Ballots must be postmarked by August 5. No stamp is needed to mail a ballot. 

 People who need voting assistance, update their address or register to vote can visit the Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Division, as it is a designated voting center during business hours.  

Any registered voter who does not receive a ballot by Wednesday, July 23 should contact the Elections Division at 360.786.5408 or elections@co.thurston.wa.us.
