Bids being sought for sewer infrastructure work in Lacey

Posted

The City of Lacey is seeking contractors to bid on a sewer infrastructure project on Chatham Drive that involves force main looping.

Proposals are due by 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 19.

The project involves installing approximately 800 linear feet of 2-inch and 4-inch diameter sanitary sewer force main.

The work calls for looping three existing sewer force mains and connecting them to an existing sewer manhole and force main, with associated street reconstruction on Chatham Drive and adjoining streets, according to bid specifications prepared by City of Lacey Water Resources Senior Utility Engineer Teri O'Neal.

Specifically, connection points are located near the intersections of Steilacoom and Chatham drives and Chatham Drive and Nepean Loop, as well as at Chatham Pig Launch.

Lacey Public Works Department staffers estimate the project is going to cost between $410,000 and $510,000. The contract allows 50 working days for completion following notice to proceed.

Work includes pavement removal, trench excavation, connections to existing sewer force mains, sewer valve installation, connections to existing manholes, trench restoration, paving, utility adjustments and street striping on Chatham Drive and adjoining streets.

All work must follow Washington State Department of Transportation standard specifications for road, bridge and municipal construction (2025 edition), as well as Lacey development guidelines and public works standards.

To qualify, each bid must include a certified check or approved bid bond equal to 5% of the proposal amount, payable to the City of Lacey Treasurer. Contractors must also submit non-collusion affidavits and wage payment compliance certifications.

The city has identified 4-inch plug valves and epoxy-coated ductile iron fittings as long-lead items that must be submitted within 10 working days of notice to proceed.

The Lacey City Council reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

For interested contractors, bids may be delivered in person to Lacey City Hall, 420 College St. SE, Lacey, WA, 98502, or mailed to the same address. Complete bid documents, plans and specifications are available on the city's web page.
