In pursuit of greater accessibility at a local veterans hub, the City of Lacey is soliciting sealed bids for a planned overhaul of the Veterans Services Hub building and surrounding parking area.
The bid deadline is May 14, with the project valued at an estimated cost of $245,000 to $295,000.
The improvements are slated for the hub located at 4232 6th Ave. SE. Work includes both the building interior and the adjacent parking lot.
Planned interior upgrades include a vertical platform lift, hands-free plumbing fixtures and automatic door operators on restroom and main entrance doors.
On the exterior, crews are going to reconfigure existing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) parking stalls and reconstruct accessible pathways to tie those stalls to the building entrance.
Curb, sidewalk and pavement marking work are among the line items included in bid documents. The scope also covers installation of painted accessible parking space symbols, wheel stops and steel posts.
To be considered, all bids must include a deposit of 5 percent of the total proposed amount. Acceptable forms include cash, a certified check or a surety bond executed on the city's approved form.
Contractors interested in the project can attend a nonmandatory prebid conference at the Veterans Hub on Thursday, April 30, at 1 p.m.
Sealed proposals must reach Lacey City Hall at 420 College St. SE by 2:30 p.m. on May 14. The city will open bids publicly that afternoon, with a live YouTube stream.
Once awarded, the winning contractor will have 90 working days to complete the project. KMB Architects of Olympia designed the improvements under City of Lacey Public Works Project No. PW 2024-17.
Prospective bidders may access bid documents through the city's website. Direct inquiries can be made to Brad Krupp at Brad.Krupp@cityoflacey.org.
