Commemorate the 30th year of the local historical site Bigelow House Museum with the fundraising event, “A Celebration of Olympia’s Heritage,” on April 24, from 5-8 p.m.

The event, to be held at the Lord Mansion at 211 21st Ave. SW in the South Capitol Neighborhood Historic District, will highlight history, music and community spirit, while supporting ongoing preservation initiatives.

The event will feature a display of Olympia memorabilia from Dwight Moody’s private collection, live music by harpist Cindy Zechmann, and a silent auction featuring rare local items and experiences.

“In 1995, members of the Bigelow House Preservation Association worked together to purchase, restore, and open the Bigelow House as a museum. This evening will honor those who have dedicated themselves to preserving this historic landmark,” stated the museum’s representative in an email to The JOLT News.

Food is also available at the event, from Gourmet hors d’oeuvres by Bite Me Catering to fine wine, beer and nonalcoholic beverages.

Event tickets are priced at $75 per person and are available online. All proceeds will benefit the museum by funding critical needs, such as hazard tree removal, furnace maintenance and essential supplies.

“While our incredible volunteers handle tasks like cleaning, groundskeeping and daily maintenance, fundraising remains vital to keeping this 165-year-old building in excellent condition,” stated the museum’s representative in an email.

Online silent auction

Part of the heritage celebration is an online silent auction that allows the community to bid on various collectibles, gift baskets, wines, art and experiences.

The event site instructs participants to click on the “Auction Website” button to register with the 32 auction website, create an account and view all the auction items.

Online bidders are not required to purchase a ticket to participate in the auction or to be present to win.

Bidding closes at 7:30 p.m. on April 24. Winners will be notified of their prizes.
