Bigelow Park playground in Olympia to close for surfacing work

Surfacing work will shut down the Bigelow Park playground in Olympia beginning on Monday, July, 13.

In order to complete the repair work, a temporary construction fence will be put up at the playground, which is located at 1220 Bigelow Ave. NE.

"The fence will be removed by Wednesday, July 15, when the playground will reopen to the community," said the City of Olympia Public Works Department in a construction and traffic alert.

Road, sidewalk closures

Road and sidewalk closures are planned later this month around Olympia Armory, as construction crews start site improvements. The work should begin in the third week of July.

"Travelers should plan ahead, follow posted detour signs, and expect temporary changes to traffic and pedestrian routes. Access to nearby properties will be maintained whenever possible," said the City of Olympia Public Works Department.

"Closure locations and schedules may change based on weather, site conditions, and project needs. Additional updates will be shared as work progresses."

The Olympia Armory is located at 515 Eastside St. SE.

Restroom closure

The Sunrise Park restroom is temporarily closed due to vandalism. It will reopen once repairs are complete.

"Repairs may take some time while we wait for replacement parts to arrive," said the City of Olympia Public Works Department.
