A Lacey man was sentenced to more than 43 years in state prison for the murder of a 13-month-old toddler in November 2022.
Eric Richard Boudreau, 35, was ordered to serve 520 months in prison at a sentencing in Thurston County Superior Court before Judge Christine Schaller on Thursday, Dec. 11.
The sentence was handed down about a month after a jury found Boudreau guilty of murder in the second degree with the special finding that he committed the crime with three aggravating factors.
Those factors were as follows: the victim was particularly vulnerable or incapable of resistance; the defendant used his position of trust to facilitate the commission of a murder; and the defendant’s conduct manifested deliberate cruelty.
“There is no sentence that can undo what happened to the child or heal the grief carried by his family. But today’s (Dec. 11) sentence ensures that the defendant will never again have the opportunity to harm another child,” said the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in a statement.
“We are grateful to the jurors for their time and attention throughout this lengthy trial; to the first responders and emergency room doctors for their tireless efforts in trying to save the child’s life; and to the Lacey Police Department and other medical professionals for their meticulous and dedicated work on this case.”
The murder occurred in Lacey on Nov. 11, 2022. Boudreau was entrusted to babysit the toddler by his parents because they believed he would be safe.
“Instead, the defendant violated that trust through intentional acts that caused the child’s fatal injuries,” said the Thurston County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in a statement.
“According to the forensic pathologist’s report, the toddler sustained more than 115 distinct injuries, including a frontal bone skull fracture, a bite mark, and multiple lacerations, abrasions, and contusions — some to the head and face, but over 80 affecting the rest of the body.”
Editor’s note: The JOLT News declined to identify the toddler by name.

Prison is too good for a monster like this. I would run him over with a bulldozer...no, maybe not, that would be too quick. I would want this monster to suffer.
I don't want to hear the bleeding hearts who will say that doing so would be 'cruel and inhumane'. He doesn't deserve forgiveness or mercy. He deserves a slow, painful death.
I would brand his forehead with the words Child Killer and let the other prisoners mete out justice.
