Rear door bus pad improvement work for Intercity Transit has been extended again in downtown Olympia.
The bus pad improvements were originally expected to be completed on Friday, Aug. 28. But the project was extended until Sept. 4 before the timeline was then pushed out two more weeks. No explanation was given for the extended timeline.
"The impacts are occurring at the intersection of 4th (Avenue) and Washington Street. These impacts are ongoing for Intercity Transit rear door bus pad improvements," said the City of Olympia in a construction and traffic alert on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
The bus stop at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Washington Street has been temporarily relocated 105 feet west, near the US Bank building.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes or allow additional travel time through the area.
Daily work hours will remain from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with all roads reopening at the end of the day through Sept. 18.

I don't think a single person on earth will be surprised a construction project is taking longer than expected. Appreciate the update!
