 WISL action returns to Olympia

After eight weeks of action away from home, alongside the Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks, arena (indoor) soccer is finally back at Olympia as the men’s arena squad of Oly Town FC returns to action for the 2022-23 Western Indoor Soccer League.

Oly Town FC, currently sitting at top of the league with 13 points from a 4-1-1 win-loss-draw standing, will strive to retain its pole position as Nick Boatright and his army will host Portland Blacktails on January 14 and Everett City FC on January 21 at the Evergreen State College Pavilion, Olympia, WA. The Artesians’ last WISL match was a win against Oly-Pen Force last December 17 away from home.

Both matches will kickoff at 6 p.m. on their respective dates. Information on where you can buy your tickets can be found on this page.

 Artesian Youth Soccer camp resumes

The Artesians Youth Soccer Camp Series, directed by Artesians part owner and coach Jason Smith is set to return for its winter run on January 21, 28 and February 4 at the Evergreen State College Pavilion, Olympia, WA.

This camp is open to kids of all genders aged 7-13, with the 7-10-year-old bracket kicking off at 1:00 PM while the 11-13-year-old camp starts at 3:00 PM.

The camp will be indoors, away from the rain or snow and will feature an array of skills drills and gameplay. All kids will receive a commemorative kid’s soccer camp shirt and connect with Artesian soccer players.

Other soccer-related events

Oly Town Soccer will host a night honoring Olympia soccer legend and former Seattle Sounders and US Men’s National Team forward Jason Dunn in a special tribute night on January 7, Saturday.

Festivities on the night include a friendly indoor arena match, where Oly Town FC hosts Bellevue Athletic FC at the Evergreen State College Pavilion at 4 p.m. kickoff. After which, a meet-and-greet with the man of the hour will follow.

Jason Dunn was Olympia born and bred and was famous for his stints with the Seattle Sounders from 1994 to 1996 in the now-defunct American Professional Soccer League, wherein he scored 21 goals in 65 games as a forward. After his stint with the Sounders, he decided to compete in indoor soccer with spells in Wichita Wings, Seattle Sea Dogs, and Hamsburg Heat from 1996 to 2002 before retiring at 31.

In the middle of his success with the Sounders, he garnered three caps in the national team.

Tickets for the event cost at $7 (12-year-olds and younger are free of charge) and could be purchased through this link.
