Candidate filing week starts on May 5 in Thurston County

Candidate filing week is right around the corner for people planning to run for office in Thurston County in 2025.

The window for candidates to file opens on Monday, May 5, and closes on Friday, May 9,  the Thurston County Auditor's Office Elections Division said in an announcement on Thursday, May 1.

Candidates can file for office using one of these options:  

  • File online at ThurstonWAVotes.gov (credit cards accepted) from May 5 at 8 a.m. to May 9 at 5 p.m. 
     
  • In-person services available 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at: 
    Thurston County Auditor's Election Division  
    2915 29th Ave. SW  
    Tumwater, WA 98512 
     
  • Mail your candidate filing to our office: 
    Thurston County Elections
    2000 Lakeridge Drive SW 
    Olympia, WA 98502  

All candidate filings and filing fees must be received by 5 p.m. Friday May 9.  

"Filing fees vary for each elected position. You can find filing fees for each position in the Candidate Guide available on our website, ThurstonWAVotes.gov," the Elections Division said

"The order of candidates on the ballot will be determined by random lot draw shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday, May 9. The drawing will be held at the Elections Office and will be streaming live via Facebook Live. Visit facebook.com/TCAuditor."
