Still undecided about which candidates to vote for in the current general election? The League of Women Voters of Thurston County has produced eight videos to help you decide.

The recorded forums vary in duration from 18 minutes to an hour and 21 minutes and are available in just two clicks from here:

The forums include candidates for all of the county-wide and city-wide races on the ballot in the current general election, including:

  • Thurston County Commissioner, Districts 4 & 5
  • Port of Olympia, Districts 1, 4 & 5
  • Lacey City Council, Positions 2 & 3
  • North Thurston School Board, Districts 1, 4 & 5
  • Olympia Mayor
  • Olympia School Board, Districts 1, 2 & 4
  • Tenino Mayor
  • Griffin School Board, Positions 1 & 5

For elected bodies with two or three positions on the ballot, the League included all positions in a single forum.

Thurston Community Media hosted all but one of the forums and produced all of the videos. The forum for Olympia School Board was conducted at the Olympia Timberland Library.

It’s hard to take Emily seriously with her green hair.

    No on NTPS Espie

    No on NTPS Gipson

Their campaigns are ran/backed by Stephanie Scott...a possible antisemite, given her recent posts and Pro Palistine AND her white knight demeanor.

    Wrong side of history ladies...

NTPS needs better representation and they are not it.

    No Espie

    No Gipson

Wayne Fournier is running a strong and positive campaign for Thurston Co Commissioner. He helped bring Tenino out of debt and bring improve the commercial and recreational opportunities in Tenino. Eason is running a negative campaign. Covering up her failures as emergency management in the Sheriff’s office.

Regarding other comments about candidates, Emily Clouse is better educated and better qualified for the position that she seeks than Terry Ballard. He has no constructive ideas to bring to the County Commissioner position. He "participates" by attending meetings and complaining that the sitting Commissioners aren't doing things as he would. We voters elected those three Commissioners, two of them twice. Mr. Ballard also claims at each meeting that the sitting Commissioners are violating the RCW all the time, but no legal complaints have been brought to bear against any or all of the sitting Commissioners.. No ideas, no leadership, no goals. Ms. Clouse, regardless of hair color, has ideas and solutions to the problems that our county faces and the experience to implement solutions. She is a collaborative and inclusive person with extensive experience in resolving the specific issues that we face. She has combat experience in recent time as well. By far a better choice than Mr. Ballard.

I usually don’t hang out in comment sections, but I was just alerted to the statement regarding Espie and Michelle for NTPS. I’m actually running Michelle Gipson’s campaign, not Stephanie. I’ve only met Stephanie one time. Candidates have no control over who supports them or what their supporter’s political beliefs are. With 190,000 registered voters in Thurston County and probably 35% of those voting in the general election, it would be impossible for me or the candidate to monitor each supporters Facebook posts for untoward statements. Please don’t judge a candidate for what another person says or does on their social media accounts.

Dani, you should totally hang out here. Good info can always be sought via comments, right? Lol. Ms. Scott is no stranger to the Espi / Gipson campaign's. Pics with them both on social. As her 'manager' I'd think you would have her immediately make a statement distancing herself from Scott's anti Jewish stance but...with $10K in her political warchest and no real opposition....maybe just keep her head down and let it blow over, right?

In reference to Mamabear20111 - your logic is flawed, and you are incorrect. You are making dangerous accusations and inuendo about two candidates you obviously know nothing about. Candidates Gipson and Espie are highly skilled and competent individuals running for school board with a clear and relevant platform that will benefit ALL our children. If you do not like their positions on policies and issues - don't vote for them, that is your privilege as a resident. However, free speech does not give you license to place them in harm's way through irresponsible and inciteful language.

    Oaktown/aka Karen,

I have screenshots of all 3 people campaigning together. Espie and Gipson have yet to publicly denounce Scott's Pro Palistine, antisemitic post. I'm sorry primary source/evidence isn't good enough for your logic.

Now...perhaps a manager somewhere needs to be scolded, get on that would ya.

    Mamabear20011:

It’s OaktownDubs. The ‘Dubs’ part is very important.

Let me try a different approach…

    1. Candidates for public office are subject to a lot of personal risk and exposure as they run for office and then serve in

their elected roles. It takes a great deal of courage and fortitude to serve your community in this way.

    2. Accusing ANYONE of being antisemitic is unacceptable. For a public candidate in this current climate, it is plain

    dangerous.

    3. Basing your opinion on some photos found online is lazy. If I have a photo taken with George Clooney, it doesn’t

make me an actor, it doesn’t mean I like his movies, and it doesn’t mean I agree with his political stance on

anything. It is simply a photo of me and Danny Ocean that you may interpret any way you like.

    4. Have you reached out to any of the candidates to ask them questions about your concerns?

    5. Your accusation, specifically, of candidates Espie and Gipson being 'probably' antisemitic based solely on your

interpretation of a few photos is irresponsible hate speech. Hate speech is not free speech.

    6. Your requirement that they counter YOUR lazy and dangerous accusations and insinuations is bullying.

    7. Stop with the sarcasm because you aren’t good at it.

    Dubs,

Glad you picked up on the sarcasm...they say sarcasm is only for smart people. And based on your elaborate diatribe, you are definitely S-M-A-R-T.

Bullying, hate speech...gosh. Throw in some other buzz words like cultural-appropriation and racism and you have yourself a word salad!

    Yum.

Guess I'll call it a night. Hope you celebrate your victory with a nice box of wine.
