Local residents are encouraged to visit the annual Olympia Wooden Boat Festival on May 10-11 to celebrate Mother’s Day weekend.

The festival opens on Saturday, May 10, and runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be followed by an evening block party from 5-8 p.m. featuring various food choices and a live performance from The Olson Bros Band.

On Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 11, celebrate the holiday at the festival, which is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the day.

The occasion will be filled with art, music and the new paint & sip experiences.

“Come experience the magic of wooden boats and the heart of Olympia’s waterfront!” states the event's web page.

Both event days are free and open to the public.

“For nearly half a century, the Olympia Wooden Boat Festival has been a celebration of craftsmanship, community, and the love of wooden boats,” the event's site stated.

In earlier times, the event was just a simple gathering of boat owners, and it has now evolved into a vibrant waterfront festival featuring live music, artisan vendors, and hands-on experiences for all ages.

Festival merchandise is available for purchase.

Interested attendees may follow the event’s social media page for updates.
