Ceramics Workshop: Pinch Pot Portraits with Mike Lalone

In this fun and creative workshop at Arbutus Folk School, you will build your own pinch pot portraits in clay with master ceramicist Mike Lalone. You will learn how to shape and sculpt a mini clay face with realistic proportions and expressions. Don’t worry if you have never worked with clay before; this workshop is suitable for all levels, and we will provide everything you need! Your clay portraits will be bisque fired for you after the workshop. 

Mike Lalone is a master ceramicist who has been working in clay for over 20 years. He studied with some of the best American ceramists at the renowned Kansas City Art Institute and Alfred University in New York State. A gifted teacher, Mike has also taught and inspired thousands of students in public schools, folk schools, and colleges, including at Young Harris College in Georgia, where he is currently an adjunct professor. Mike is passionate about sharing his skills and knowledge with others, and his ceramics students have gone on to win awards. Mike’s own work has been exhibited and admired at various art shows and festivals across the country.
