Check out the TRL mobile app for favorite books and more

Timberland Regional Library’s mobile application allows those on the go to access their favorite books and resources from anywhere.

Available on Android and iOS, the Timberland Regional Library (TRL) mobile app offers a variety of features that include granting patrons access to their library cards and accounts online.

"Anyone can browse or search for book titles and other materials once they have downloaded the app, even without an account,” said Timberland Regional Library Deputy Director Kendra Jones.

Once patrons log into their account, they have full access to view checked-out materials, place holds on items for pick up, and use links to a range of electronic resources, Jones said.

“It is extremely important to us to provide our patrons with access to materials and services regardless of their location or ability to visit our libraries in person,” Jones said. “Updating our mobile app has been an effective way to accomplish that goal.”

Useful features of the TRL mobile app include a built-in scanner and GPS.

If visiting one of the TRL libraries, patrons can use the scan feature that opens when they go to sign in on the app to scan their library card barcode directly from their phone at self-checkout.

Using the scan feature that can be accessed on the search function, patrons can scan any book's barcode or International Standard Book Number (ISBN) to see if it is available in the TRL catalog.

“It’s simple and convenient to search our collection from almost anywhere using the TRL mobile app,” Jones said. “It’s also a great way to check for up-to-date information about hours and closures.”

GPS on the app can be used to find nearby TRL locations and access the “Plan Your Visit” page on TRL.org, where all current locations, hours and guidelines are listed.

Users can customize their layout preferences and language, and the app now includes a section listing all mobile apps available to anyone with a TRL library card.

Visit TRL.org for current information on library locations and hours.
