"Chrysalis," the 4th annual spring group art show for the Thurston County Museum of Fine Arts, is open as a free-to-enter exhibition through April 25.
The exhibit, which opened on March 13, explores themes of change and metamorphosis based on pieces made by 21 Washington-based contemporary artists.
“As all things transit from one state to another, it can be helpful to throw up a shield, to mask ourselves or our charges in the face of danger, much like how insects protect themselves with a golden sheath during metamorphosis,” said the museum in an email sent to The JOLT.
Various paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations and video art will be featured in the exhibit, based on each artist’s unique interpretation.
Featured artists include Anton Seder, Asenath Lizárraga, Camille Trautman, Chad Yenney, Devin River, Fennel Overstreet, James Kidd, Jerzy Repsch, Kelly Watson, KEMC, M Freeman, Marissa Magic, Molly Wheat Baker, Ollis Bedspread, Rachel Konsella, Suzanne Wenner, Tania Colette B., Taylor White, Thomas Patterson, Tiffany Ahearn-Wood and Vito Valera.
TCMoFA is located at 120 Olympia Ave. NE, Olympia, WA 98501.
